The Queen Anne Stakes (G1) was first run in 1840 to commemorate the monarch who founded Ascot. A field of eleven older horses competed over the 1 mile straightaway for a purse of £250,000 (about $489,000 US). 5-1 co-second choice Haradasun with jockey John Murtagh stalked the pace set by 100-1 Honoured Guest, challenged for the lead with 3/16 of a mile to go as the pacesetter tired, and was all out to hold off late-running 5-1 Darjina by a head at the line, completing the trip in 1:38.98 over the good to firm course. It was another 3/4 lengths back to 9-2 favorite Finsceal Beo third.

Murtagh said, "We moved off the rails and we got a nice slip through and I knew him better today. I knew over a stiff mile with plenty of pace on he would be hard to beat today. He's very tough and genuine and they are trained and ridden hard in Australia and I knew he'd improve from the Lockinge. (Darjina) dived at me in the last little bit and in fairness my horse got a bit tired in the last 50 yards, but he is all heart."

Winning trainer Aidan O'Brien added, "There was not much early pace in the Lockinge but we were very happy with him in the race. He was very naturally fast from day one, a great cruiser, and you can see why everyone was excited about him in Australia. He looked like a horse who would get 1 1/4 today."
