As a 2-year-old he broke his maiden in the Breeders' Futurity (G1) followed by a 4th place finish in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1). Kicked off his 2012 campaign with a second place finish in the Palm Beach (G3) on March 11. Rallied from 11th early to win by 1 1/4 lengths over Hansen in the Blue Grass (G1) at Keeneland for his final prep. Rallied from 11th on the far outside to finish 3rd in the Kentucky Derby, only a neck back from 2nd place Bodemeister. Skipped the Preakness and waited for the Belmont.
