Carded just before the Preakness is the $100,000 William Donald Schaefer Handicap (G3) for older horses going 1 1/8 miles on the main track. 3-1 second choice Flashy Bull stalked the pace set by 9-1 Take The Bluff, took over in mid-stretch, and was all-out to hold off the late move of even-money favorite Hesanoldsalt to get the victory in 1:47.86. It was a long 5 lengths back to 6-1 Ryan's For Real in third.

Jockey Alan Garcia said, "From the 1/4 pole on, my horse just gave everything to the finish. I'm very proud of him. This is one of my biggest wins. It's been a good year with some really good horses. What a race."

Managing partner Terry Finley of West Point Thoroughbreds added, "The race set up really well for us. We thought there'd be a lot of speed and there was. Down the backstretch, I kept my eye on Edgar (Prado aboard Hesanoldsalt), and I thought we were going to run a good second. This horse really came back well. We couldn't have been happier today."
