The $250,000 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (G2) is the filly counterpart to the Preakness Stakes, and is contested at Pimlico Race Course the day before the second leg of the Triple Crown. Eight 3-year-old fillies contested the 1 1/8 mile distance before an on-track crowd of 25,167, with Santa Ysabel Stakes winner Baroness Thatcher sent off as the 8-5 favorite over Bourbonette Stakes runner-up Panty Raid at 5-2.

Baroness Thatcher set the pace of 24.05, 48.08, and 1:11.90, and was 1 1/2 lengths clear of the field midway through the lane. Panty Raid, who sat in midpack fourth early, came out after a ground-saving trip to close well through the stretch, prevailing by a length over 3-1 third choice Winning Point in 1:50.07 over a fast main track. Baroness Thatcher finished a neck back in third, 8 lengths ahead of the rest of the field.
