The $150,000 Aegon Turf Sprint (G3) for older turf sprinters saw 4-1 second choice Gaff settle four wide in stalking position down the backstretch, then came out wider on the turn, taking over the lead with a furlong to go and then drawing clear late to win by 1 1/4 lengths over 5-1 Ellwood and Jake. He completed the 5 furlong trip in 56.84 over the yielding surface. It was just 3/4 length back to Congo King in third, while favorite Unbridled Sidney weakened late after setting a fast pace of 45.12 to finish sixth.

Winning trainer Steve Asmussen said, "The race set up very well for us. Unbridled Sidney is brilliant and had someone go with her. It was the best case scenario for us. This (race) was his target since he won on the turf at Fair Grounds (Feb. 10 Taylor Special Handicap), an event like this with its pageantry. With the quantity of horses (owner Bill Heiligbrodt) runs, the quality is hard to fault. It's very gratifying to have him win under these circumstances on Oaks Day this week." Robby Albarado aboard beaten favorite Unbridled Sidney said, "She just got hooked all the way around there. I could never give her a breather. She's been off awhile, and I wanted to get her by herself and let her catch her breath for a second effort."
