Update: Pool Three of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager is now closed. I Want Revenge, winner of the Wood Memorial on Saturday, was the 9-2 favorite off his impressive performance after a bad start in that race. Second choice at 6-1 was Florida Derby winner Quality Road, with Louisiana Derby winner Friesan Fire at 8-1, and Santa Anita Derby winner Pioneerof the Nile at 9-1. The Pamplemousse was suspended from wagering on Sunday when it was announced he was out of the Kentucky Derby due to a tendon injury after being scratched from the Santa Anita Derby on Saturday. The favorite exacta combination was 9-17, I Want Revenge winning over Quality Road, with a will-pay of $49.80. A total of $268,880.23 was wagered in the win pool and $108,278.61 was wagered in the exacta pool.

Pool 1 final odds and will-pays
The 2009 edition of Churchill Downs' Kentucky Derby Future Wager is set to open its third and final four-day run on Thursday April 2. This time Florida Derby winner Quality Road has been set as the morning line favorite at odds of 6-1. Three horses are tied for second choice at 8-1: Louisiana Derby winner Friesan Fire, Gotham winner I Want Revenge, and Dunkirk second in the Florida Derby. The mutuel field of "all other 3-year-olds" is third choice at 10-1 on the morning line.
Once again for this pool, there will be exacta wagering offered on the horses in the Future Wager. The only restriction on the exacta is that the field (#24) can only be used in one position of the exacta, so at least one of the individual horses (#1 through #23) must be used as well.
Wagering on the four-day pool opens at noon (all times EST) on Thursday April 2 and will continue until 6pm on Sunday, April 5. Racetracks and off-track betting centers across North America will offer the wager.
There are three major Kentucky Derby prep races this weekend: the Wood Memorial, Santa Anita Derby, and Illinois Derby. Several of the horses in the Future Wager are entered in these, so expect the results to have a big impact on the odds and perhaps wait until Sunday to see what happens before considering your bets. You can check the current odds here once wagering opens on Thursday.
