The $1 million Woodbine Mile (G1) is a major prep for the Breeders' Cup Mile. Run at the 1 mile distance around one turn of the E.P. Taylor Turf Course, this year's edition attracted a field of 13, with 7 of the older horses bred outside North America. Oceanport Stakes winner Three Valleys was sent off as the 3-1 lukewarm favorite over Remarkable News at 9-2.

10-1 Sweet Return set a brisk pace of 22.86 and 45.12 down the backstretch while Remarkable News stayed with him just to his outside. Turning for home, 8-1 Becrux and 6-1 Rebel Rebel made their moves from near the rear of the field. In a cavalry charge, Becrux found room between horses and broke through to get his head in front of the fading Remarkable News at the 1/8 pole. Rebel Rebel came down the center of the course but Becrux held him off by just a neck at the line, completing the mile distance in 1:33.99 over a firm course. 5-1 Ad Valorem was 1 1/4 lengths back in third, while favorite Three Valleys tired in the stretch and was seventh.
