The victory by Seek Gold, the longest shot in the field of nine, was the biggest upset in the history of the Stephen Foster Handicap and one of the biggest surprises in the 132-year history of the famed home of the Kentucky Derby. Lakeside Stable’s Colonial Colony, a 62-1 shot, set the previous record won the race over a “sloppy” track in 2004 and paid $127.20 to win.

Seek Gold was recently purchased as part of a nine-horse deal by owners Bowman Couch Racing, LLC and turned over to trainer Ron Moquett. Prior to this race, he was owned by Robert LaPenta and trained by Nick Zito.
