Stephen Foster Super Saturday at Churchill Downs features six graded stakes contested beneath the Twin Spires, and is the biggest day of racing in Louisville outside of Derby week. The older handicap division competed in the main event, the $750,000 Stephen Foster Handicap (G1) at 1 1/8 miles on the main track. National Jockey Club Handicap winner Master Command was the 8-5 favorite over Pegasus Handicap winner Diamond Stripes at 3-1 and Razorback winner Magna Graduate at 7-2.

Longshot Mr. Umphrey, sent out as the rabbit for stablemate Diamond Stripes, was gunned to the lead and set a fast pace of 23.39, 46.45, and 1:11.09 before fading to last. Wanderin Boy, Wiggins, and Flashy Bull stalked the pace at least 2 lengths back of the speedster. On the far turn, Wanderin Boy and Wiggins also faded, allowing Flashy Bull to take over the lead at the top of the lane. Flashy Bull opened up by 4 lengths at the furlong pole but was all-out late to hold off the late-running Magna Graduate by a head. The running time was 1:48.63 over the fast track. Diamond Stripes was third while favorite Master Command failed to fire and was sixth at the finish.
