The $600,000 Metropolitan Handicap (G1), commonly called the Met Mile, is the traditional feature at Belmont Park on Memorial Day. Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Silver Train returned to the scene of his greatest triumph and was sent off as the 2-1 favorite over six rivals. Silver Train, with Edgar Prado in the irons, did not disappoint, as he stalked the brisk pace of 6-1 shot Mass Media through 6 furlongs in 1:08.90, then took over the lead in mid stretch and held off 7-1 late-runner Sun King to win by a head, in a time of 1:34.27 for the 1 mile main track feature.
