Because of the delay caused by the disqualification, Regal Engagement never got to go in the winner's circle. Her connections got to pose there with the Black-Eyed Susan trophy instead. Winning trainer Thomas Bush said, "We'll take it. I do feel good about it, but I feel bad for the connections of the other filly. (Regal Engagement) ran terrific. We were asking a lot of her in this spot and she came through for us." Winning jockey Ramon Dominguez said, "She was tugging hard into the first turn, so I let her go. We had good position on the far turn and had a lot of horse coming into the stretch. Down the lane, the six horse came into me. So I had to move her out so we didn't clip heels."
