Besides the two Grade 1 features, there were three other stakes events at Aqueduct on Wood Memorial day, including the $150,000 Bay Shore Stakes (G3) for 3-year-old sprinters going 7 furlongs on the main track.
With 34-1 longshot Indian Camp setting the sharp pace of :21.76 and:41.35 while being pressured by 10-1 Pass the Punch and 8-1 Wollaston Bay, 11-4 second choice Bill Place stayed on a clear, outside path and kept 3-5 favorite Les Grand Trois, who had broken slowly, pinned to the rail. 13-1 shot Hobbitontherocks launched a bid on the turn under jockey Alan Garcia and came into the stretch with a 2-length lead, as the front-runners tired. Both Bill Place and Les Grand Trois rallied, but Bill Place kicked away. It looked like he would pull away, but he drifted in the lane and had to hold on to win by a neck over Hobbitontherocks in 1:22.99. It was 2 1/4 lengths back to favorite Les Grands Trois in third.
