Earlier in the card, a full field of 14 three-year-old fillies contested the $250,000 Natalma Stakes (G2). Spring Venture was sent off as the 5-2 favorite off her debut win over the Woodbine course. In to challenge her included 5-1 second choice Coconut Shrump, a debut winner at Saratoga last out, and 11-2 third choice Tiz Ro, who won her maiden over Woodbine's Polytrack.
80-1 Shenandoah Lady battled for the lead with Coconut Shrimp and 25-1 Sure Would through fractions of 23.37, 47.40, and 1:13.06 over the yielding course. Entering the lane, Shenandoah Lady continued to lead but tired from the fast pace. Spring Venure, 7th early, came through between horses and took command inside the 1/8 pole to win by 1 3/4 length over late-running 9-1 Spring in the Air in 1:37.27. It was a neck back to 19-1 Nancy O third.
