The older sprinters highlighted the Sunday card at Saratoga on Whitney weekend. The $250,000 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1), contested at 6 furlongs on the main track, is an early prep for the Breeders' Cup Sprint. Majesticperfection was sent off as the even-money choice in the field of 7 off four straight wins including the Iowa Sprint Handicap at Prairie Meadows last out. In to challenge him included 4-1 second choice Big Drama, winner of the Ponche Handicap and the Smile Sprint Handicap (G2) at Calder, and 9-2 third choice Bribon, winner of the True North Handicap (G2) at Belmont Park.
Majesticperfection was sent to the front by Shaun Bridgmohan and he opened up a clear lead of 1 1/4 lengths down the backstretch through fractions of 22.80 and 45.60 over the fast track, with Big Drama stalking him in second. Entering the stretch, Majesticperfection accelerated away from the field, opening up by 3 lengths at the 1/8 pole. He cruised past the winning post under a hand ride 2 3/4 lengths in front in 1:08.63. It was just 1/2 a length back from Big Drama to late-running Bribon third.
