His owner Danny Dion of Bear Stables also won Outstanding Owner in Canada. Trainer Mark Casse won for Outstanding Trainer, and jockey Patrick Husbands won for Outstanding Jockey.

Barbaro to be buried at Churchill Downs
Owners Roy and Gretchen Jackson announced on the one-year anniversary of his death, that 2006 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro's ashes will be buried at a special monument to be built outside Gate 1 at Churchill Downs. A life-size bronze statue will be unveiled at the site in 2009.
