i just wanted to say how much i like ur site!!! The Travers’ was vindication for both me and Col.John. I was sure he was going to win the KY. Derby; even tho i was very unhappy with his overly fast w/out within a week of the race. One of my handicapping rules is never bet a horse who with a w/out over 3f within 5 to 7 days of a race. These are animals, not machines!!!

I was just wondering why Col. Johns tounge was hanging out the whole time of the race?
Looks like it was “tied” outside of his mouth and I am wondering why they do this?
Thanks

To MuleKist: Many horses race with their tounges tied to the side hanging out their mouth like that. It is to keep their airway clear. Most just have the tongue tied down to the lower jaw, but he must have a more serious problem with getting it in the way so they tied it outside. Horses don’t have teeth in that part of the jaw, so he won’t bit it while running. That is also where the bit fits in their mouth.
