There were 366 3-year-old thoroughbreds nominated for the 2010 Triple Crown by the January 16 early deadline, down from 401 last year. Early nominations are $600 while late nominations, which close on March 27, are $6000. Check out the list of all 366 with their breeding and other information.

In hopes of attracting both 2009 Horse of the Year finalists, Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta (right), Oaklawn Park announced on Thursday afternoon that the Apple Blossom Handicap (G1), run on April 3, will have its purse increased ten times from $500,000 to $5 million if both start. The race, historically carded at 1 1/16 miles, will be extended to 1 1/8 miles for this year's renewal.

Two of Ontario's big Thoroughbred breeding farms had an open house in January. Check out photos of the stallions at Gardiner Farm, including Breeders' Cup Classic winner Alphabet Soup (left), and Norse Ridge Farm, including the recently retired stakes winner Rebellion.

The six Sunshine Millions races for the Florida and California-breds were held on Saturday at Gulfstream Park in Florida and Santa Anita in California.
