The Golden Jubilee Stakes (G1), run as the Cork and Orrery Stakes from 1868 to 2001, was renamed in 2002 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee in 2002, and is the last Group stakes of the meeting. A large field of 17 went to the gate in this 6 furlong sprint on the straightaway for a purse of £375,000 (about $733,800 US). 16-1 Fat Boy led the field for 3 furlongs while being chased by 4-1 favorite Takeover Target, who inherited the lead at the top of the stretch as Fat Boy faded. Takeover Target looked homefree at the 1/8 pole but the fast early pace had taken its toll. 33-1 longshot Kingsgate Native, mid-pack early, took over the lead at the 1/16 pole and drew off to a 1 1/4 length win over 8-1 War Artist in 1:13.33. It was another 3/4 length back to late-running 20-1 Sir Gerry third. Takeover Target finished fourth.

Winning jockey Seb Sanders said, "He was a bit keen early and it just took me a while to get him into his rhythm and settle him. He carried me very easily to the (quarter-pole) and it was just a case of getting past those hardened horses in front. He knuckled down and picked up really well, he's given me a terrific ride throughout. He's going to be a star sprinter for a while."

Trainer John Best added, "It means so much to the yard to have winners, and to have winners here is the ultimate. Everyone has worked so hard at home and it's so good to do it on the day. I thought 33-1 was a crazy price for him. He won the Nunthorpe last year and shouldn't have been anywhere near that price. He ran with the choke out a little bit earlier in the week. He's done a good job to come back so quickly. He's very relaxed and has done little at home since. He's been sat on once and apart from that he's been out in the field."
