A field of 12 horses lined up at the start in the £320,000 Seasons Holidays Queen Mother Champion Chase (G1) for 5-year-olds and up going 2 miles over 12 fences. 4-11 favorite and defending champion Master Minded settled behind the pacesetters early, then made his move at the 5th fence, taking over the lead with 2 jumps remaining, and drew clear through the lane to win by 7 lengths over 12-1 Well Chief in 3:59.4. It was 2 lengths back to 12-1 Petit Robin third.
Winning trainer Paul Nicholls said, "Master Minded is a great horse. We want to look after him for the future. We know a lot more about him now, and there's no reason why he can't come back here again next year and win this. There's no point winning by 20 lengths when you don't have to. Ruby (Walsh, jockey says he is absolute different class to ride."
