Won a maiden special weight and allowance in New York last year. Won his first start this year at the Fair Grounds in the Le Comte Stakes then ran second to Pyro in the Risen Star. Shipped to Oaklawn next to avoid Pyro (also trained by Asmussen) and ran a distant 5th in the Rebel Stakes with no excuse. Finished 2nd by 3/4 of a length to Gayego in the Arkansas Derby for his final prep. In the Kentucky Derby, he was in heavy traffic in 8th just 4 lengths off the pace most of the way, but faded late to finish 10th beaten 19 1/2 lengths.
