He broke his maiden at first asking in December at Tampa Bay, followed by a 6 length romp in the Pasco Stakes also at Tampa on January 16. He was third in the Sam F. Davis (G3), fifth in the Tampa Bay Derby (G3), then 3rd in the Lexington (G2) at Keeneland. In the Belmont Stakes he finished 5th beaten 3 lengths, but was disqualified to last for returning underweight having lost the 8 pound lead pad on the backstretch.
