After breaking his maiden at Saratoga he finished 6th in the Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland. He followed that effort up with four straight off-the-board finishes in allowance company at Churchill and Gulfstream. He then shipped to Keeneland to upset the Blue Grass Stakes (G1) at 40-1 under new jockey Alan Garcia. Finished 8th in both the Kentucky Derby (by 8 1/2 lengths) and the Belmont Stakes (by 10 1/2 lengths).
