I Want Revenge a last minute scratch from the Kentucky Derby:

Unfortunately, I Want Revenge was scratched from the Kentucky Derby. At 9am Saturday morning before the race, they announced that he would not run. They found some heat and filling in his left front ankle and while he jogged sound he walked a bit off and they decided with the muddy track to be safe and scratch him. As far as anyone can remember, this is the first time the morning line favorite has scratched the morning of the Derby. His vet Dr. Foster Northrup said, "He X-rayed normal and the ultrasound was normal. There is no diagnosis at this time. More sophisticated tests will need to be done."

Comments:

Last year in California he broke his maiden in his 4th start then was 2nd by a nose to Pioneerof the Nile in the Cash Call Futurity. In his 2009 debut, he was an even 3rd in the Robert Lewis Stakes at Santa Anita behind Pioneerof the Nile. Shipped east to Aqueduct for the Gotham Stakes to try real dirt instead of synthetic and ran away to win by 8 1/2 lengths. As of March 30, IEAH has bought a half interest in him from current owner David Lanzman and Jeff Mullins will remain his trainer. Overcame a bad start in the Wood to rally from last and win by 1 1/2 lengths, so off to Kentucky.
