The $200,00 True North Handicap (G2) saw older sprinters go 6 furlongs on the main track. 5-1 third choice Anew took the lead right away and led at every call, drawing 5 lengths clear in mid stretch and easily holding off the late run of 4-5 favorite Tiger to win by 3 1/2 lengths in 1:08.10 over the main track.

Toby Sheets, assistant to winning trainer Steve Asmussen said, "I saw speed, speed, and speed today and I thought the best thing was to send him. His performance was unbelievable. I'm still saying, `Wow!' He's just a cool horse. He was a lunatic before we gelded him and he's still a lunatic, but he's a little better now. We'll see how he comes out."
