A field of 8 three-year-olds sprinted 7 furlongs in the $250,000 Woody Stephens Breeders' Cup Stakes (G2). Arkansas Derby 3rd place finisher Deadly Dealer was the 9-5 choice over 3-1 Stormello who was next to last in the Kentucky Derby in his last start. Hirsch Jacobs winner Street Magician rounded out the top three on the board at 7-2.

Stormello was quickest away and was allowed an uncontested lead of 1 1/2 lengths through fractions of 22.38 and 44.93, while Deadly Dealer and Street Magician contested second place down the backstretch. This fast early pace set up the race for the closers. 8-1 Teuflesberg, who bobbled at the start and was last at the top of the stretch, split rivals at the 3/16 pole and gained a short lead at the furlong pole over 11-1 Most Distinguished, who also joined the battle late after a slow start. Through the stretch, Teuflesberg drew away to a 2 length win over Most Distinguished, who was 3/4 length ahead of Stormello in third. The running time was 1:21.49 over the fast main track. Favorite Deadly Dealer tired badly after the half mile and finished a well-beaten seventh, 15 lengths behind the winner.
