It was a beautiful morning at Pimlico on Wednesday with sunny skies and cool temperatures. There were six Preakness horses on the grounds already and they completed their scheduled morning activities by shortly after 8am. Three more horses (Rachel Alexandra, Pioneerof the Nile, and Terrain) are expected to arrive in Baltimore mid-afternoon aboard a flight from Louisville around 3pm, and I will post photos from that when they get here. The post position draw for the Preakness will also be this afternoon at 5pm and a field of 13 has been entered as expected.
Mine That Bird galloped at Pimlico on Wednesday morning. He arrived at the track on Tuesday at 6:44pm after leaving Churchill Downs at 9:06 in the morning. His trainer Bennie Woolley drove all the way in his Ford F-150 pulling the trailer. Woolley said, "I called a friend on the way and said it's the first time I've had the police leading me instead of chasing me." As for the horse, he traveled with no problems. Woolley said, "He was calm all the way; ate his feed, cleaned up good; drank all his water."
