The $400,000-added Woodford Reserve Turf Course (G1) saw ten older horses go 1 1/8 miles on the turf. 7-2 second choice English Channel sat just off the slow pace of 39-1 outsider Cool Conductor for the first mile. Jockey Garrett Gomez asked him for run and got it, as English Channel shot to the front and was all-out to hold off the late move of 2-1 favorite Cacique for the 1/2 length victory. The running time was 1:47.15 for 9 furlongs on a firm course.
