A field of ten three-year-old fillies sprinted 7 1/2 furlongs in the $150,000 La Troienne Stakes (G3). 9-2 second choice Silverinyourpocket settled in hand near the back of the field early on, well off the pace set by 9-5 favorite Appealing Zophie of 22.40 and 45.20. Finding an opening on the inside on the turn as he would do in the Derby 3 hours later, jockey Calvin Borel took Silverinyourpocket to the front and the filly outgamed 22-1 Suaveness late to prevail by 1/2 a length in 1:30.14. It was 1 1/4 lengths back to 5-1 Upcoming Story in third, while Appealing Zophie tired from her quick pace finishing sixth.
Trainer Helen Pitts said, "She's push-button. She's all class. She waits for you to call on her and does what you want. I was a little worried at the three-eighths pole and jumping up and down at the eighth pole." Jockey Calvin Borel added, "The horses in front of her were coming back pretty quick because they went kind of fast the first part and when I asked her to finish from the eighth pole home, she did."
