Only five older fillies and mares contested the $150,000 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile (G3) at a mile on the turf. 7-2 third choice Take The Ribbon tracked the leaders out in the four path early on, a couple of lengths off the pace set by 4-1 Rich Fantasy, then moved out six wide into the stretch for the drive and was all out through the lane to get up by nose over 5-2 Quite a Bride. It was 2 1/2 lengths more to Rich Fantasy in third, while 6-5 favorite Magnificent Song showed no rally late and was fourth. The running time was 1:36.89 over the yielding course.
Winning jockey Rafael Bejarano said, "When I came to the turn she switched leads again and she kept running and the horse finished strong. (Runner-up Quite a Bride) finished strong too. I didn't think I had her, but in the last jump she put her head down." Trainer Wally Dollase, who is 3-for-3 on the meet, said, "I can't do anything wrong. Whenever you win by one inch that's what I call a luck-out win."
