2006 Kentucky Oaks Results

Older horses including two from last year's Derby went to post in the $100,000 Alysheba Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on the main track. 3-2 favorite Goulding's Green settled back in fifth early on, off the pace set by 38-1 longest shot Chippewa's Trail, then came out wide on the turn and wore down last year's Queen's Plate winner and 2-1 second choice Wild Desert through the final 1/16 of a mile to win by just a head in 1:42.37. Of the Derby alumni, 6-1 Andromeda's Hero was third, 4 1/2 lengths back, while 9-1 Greater Good failed to fire and was sixth.
