Lemons Forever wasn't too happy about the big, smelly wreath of lillies and refused to let them put it on her.

Winning jockey Mark Guidry said, "She broke a little slowly, maybe it was because of the crowd. I tucked in as much as I could going into the first turn. On the backside, I kind of let her ease to the leaders on her own, but we got hung wide on the second turn and every time I found a seam or something, it closed up. I had horse and I did not want to get her stopped at all and she showed what I thought she could. She worked tremendously on this racetrack and Dallas (trainer Dallas Stewart) did a great job."

Winning trainer Dallas Stewart said, "I've won a lot of good races and I'm lucky to have great owners, but this is the ultimate. This is big-time. She had a great trip. She was flat rolling on the turn. I felt like we could win it from there if she could maintain her drive. I was crying at the eighth pole. She showed us she wanted it."
