The $500,000 Kentucky Oaks (G1) features the best 3-year-old fillies in the
country, going 1 1/8 miles over the Churchill Downs main track before the
second-largest Oaks crowd in history, 108,065. The longest shot on the board,
47-1 Lemons Forever, raced at the back of the pack most of the way, well of
the hot pace of Miss Norman then circled the field around the far turn and
powered through to win going away by a length and a half over 10-1 shot
Ermine. Lemons Forever completed the 9-furlong feature in 1:50.07. 8-5
favorite Balance failed to fire, finishing eleventh. Third place finisher
Bushfire interfered with eventual sixth place finisher Red Cherries Spin and
was disqualified by the stewards.
