It's a tribute to Nick and his team what they've done with the horse." Garrett Gomez aboard Perfect Drift said, "He bobbled all the way around there, falling down the whole time. He was on ice skates. About three jumps out of the gate, he just fell (into the mud) and kept falling and falling and falling."

Wanderin Boy wins the 2007 Alysheba Stakes

The first stakes race on Friday afternoon was the $100,000 Alysheba (G3) for older horses. 3-1 second choice Wanderin Boy was allowed an uncontested lead and he took full advantage, slowing the pace to 48.09 for the half and 1:12.86 for 6 furlongs. Through the stretch he drew away to win by 4 1/4 lengths over 2-1 favorite Half Ours, completing the sloppy 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.45. 7-1 Student Council was third and 9-2 Perfect Drift was fourth, unable to close on the slow pace.
