Just five older fillies and mares went to post in the $300,000 Louisville Stakes (G2) at 1 1/16 miles on the main track. Unforgiven shot to the early lead getting the 1/4 mile in 25.25, but heavy favorite and Eclipse Award winner Ginger Punch took over the lead down the backstretch then slowed the pace down to 50.23 and 1:14.06. Leah's Secret challenged the champion at the 1/4 pole but Ginger Punch brushed her off easily, finding another gear to draw off to an impressing 3 3/4 length win in 1:43.08 over the "fast" track. Another 2 1/4 lengths separated Leah's Secret and third place finisher Lear's Princess.
