Update: Pool Two of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager is now closed. The mutuel field of "All Other 3-Year-Olds" closed as the 9-2 favorite, with Dunkirk, unbeaten in just 2 lifetime starts and targetting the Florida Derby, as the 7-1 second choice. Louisiana Derby winner Friesan Fire and Rebel Stakes runner-up Old Fashioned, both closed at odds of 8-1. A total of $276,403 was bet into the win pool, the lowest since the wager was first offered in 1999. For the first time there was also an exacta offered in the future wager, attracting a pool of $104,017. The "favorite" in the exacta is the combination of Old Fashioned winning and a field horse finishing second, with a will-pay of $133.60.

This year there was only one Kentucky Oaks Future Wager pool and Davona Dale Stakes winner Justwhistledixie is the 5-2 favorite over Fair Grounds Oaks winner Rachel Alexandra at 3-1. Champion juvenile filly Stardom Bound is the 9-2 third choice, after winning the Santa Anita Oaks last Saturday, with the mutuel field of "All Other Three-Year-Old Fillies" closing at 7-1 odds. There was no exacta offered for the Oaks.

Pool Three of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager will open on Thursday, April 2.

The 2009 edition of Churchill Downs' Kentucky Derby Future Wager is set to open its second four-day run on Thursday March 12, and Old Fastioned, winner of the Southwest Stakes, is co-favorite along with the mutuel field or all 3-year-olds at odds of 8-1.

The big change for this pool is the addition of exacta wagering for the first time ever on the horses in the Future Wager. The only restriction on the exacta is that the field (#24) can only be used in one position of the exacta, so at least one of the individual horses (#1 through #23) must be used as well.

Wagering on the four-day pool opens at noon (all times EST) on Thursday March 12 and will continue until 6pm on Sunday, March 15. Racetracks and off-track betting centers across North America will offer the wager.

The only Kentucky Oaks Future Wager pool for 2009 will also be open this weekend, and will not have an exacta available. Stardom Bound, Champion juvenile filly last year and winner of the Santa Anita Oaks last weekend, is the morning line favorite at 5-1. The Oaks pool closes on Sunday at 6:30PM ET, 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Derby pool.

Below are the wagering interests with morning line and final odds for Pool Two of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager and the Kentucky Oaks Future Wager. Free past performances for the Derby Future are available from the Kentucky Derby website and free past performances for both the Derby Future and Oaks Future are available from Daily Racing Form.

Will-pay amounts for each horse are on page 2.
