Graded stakes earnings are used to determine the order of preference for which horses are drawn into the Kentucky Derby if there are more than 20 horses, the maximum allowed number of starters, entered into the race. Below is a list of horses in order of graded earnings amount through April 25, with a link to a profile where available. The graded preps mostly over now, with only the Derby Trial and Withers left to go which are only a week before the Derby. Usually it will take at least $100,000 in graded earnings to make the field for the Derby but this year, it may take over $200,000 (a new record high) to make the cut because of the many upsets in the preps.
Note: Horses who have already been declared as not going have been removed from the list.
