Kicking off the Thoroughbred stakes action on Dubai World Cup day is the $1 million Godolphin Mile, a 1600 meter (1 mile) race for older horses around one turn of the main track at Nad al Sheba. Godolphin entrant Killybegs sent off as the 11-2 favorite in the field of fourteen over two horses at 7-1, Doug O'Neill trainee Spring at Last and Mike de Kock trainee Mullins Bay.

Spring At Last broke very well from the gate and was leading beside Nelore Pora followed by Killybegs. At the top of the stretch, these three were at the front while Mullins Bay came on the outside, along with Parole Board. The latter soon took control from Mullins Bay inside the final quarter, only for Spring At Last to find more in the final furlong, to win going away by 2 3/4 lengths in 1:36.16 over a fast track. It was another 1 1/2 lengths back from Parole Board to Mullins Bay in third.
