Jockey Anthony Delpech said, "That was fantastic taking on such good horses. We were confident after he travelled so well from Hong Kong. This is the biggest moment of my career. When I hit the front, it was going to take something really good to beat me. That is a great result for Hong Kong and our racing. I won the Hong Kong Gold Cup (HK-I) on him (twice) but to come here and win is something else"

Winning trainer David Ferraris said of his horse shipping in, "He's gone to New Zealand to (rest), and he was an absolute gentleman traveling. We have big crowds at home, so this was nothing for him. The only thing was the fireworks they set off."
