Jockey Kevin Shea said, "He has run a fantastic race, and we made up a lot of ground, but basically the wide draw (16) beat us."

Unfortunately, popular U.S. horse Lava Man was in contention most of the way but had to be eased in the stretch. Jockey Corey Nakatani said, "With about 3 1/2 furlongs left to run he said I've had enough, and that is just not him. It is disappointing. He's just such a good horse. For him to run like that, it's hard to take."
