The penultimate race on Dubai World Cup day is the $5 million Dubai Duty Free, a 1777 meter (1 1/8 mile) turf race at Nad al Sheba. Japanese entrants Admire Moon and Daiwa Major were the co-favorites, each going off at 11-2, with American hope Lava Man the third choice at 7-1.

Lava Man and Irridescence set the early pace, followed by Seihali on the rail. Mystical, English Channel and Daiwa Major raced outside followed by Pompeii Ruler. Stormy River raced in the middle of the pack while Admire Moon waited in behind. On the final turn Seihali, Daiwa Major and Admire Don were leading the field. Seihali hit the front before Admire Moon took off at the quarter pole stealing a vital length. Linngari ran hard at the leader in the final sixteenth, coming from well off the pace, but Admire Moon had enough in hand to hold on by 1/2 length, completing the trip in 1:47.94 over "good" turf. It was 4 1/4 lengths back to Daiwa Major. Lava Man faded badly in the stretch and was eased late by jockey Corey Nakatani.
