In contrast to the overcast skies and rains on Thursday, the sun was out again in Dubai on Friday morning as World Cup day entrants put in their final maintenance gallops at Nad al Sheba. Racing conditions should be ideal on Saturday night, with clear skies expected.

Dubai World Cup second choice Invasor went out for a final maintenance gallop on Friday morning. Asked about his opinion of his competition, trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said, "I've a lot of respect for Discreet Cat since he's undefeated, he's a great horse, but we just hope we're a bit better. We gave him 9 pounds last year (in the UAE Derby). We want the 10 furlongs, he's a question mark at 10 furlongs. Hopefully Discreet Cat goes to the front and someone goes with him and we come from off the pace but we can lay closer if they go slower. With seven horses you don't usually get a real fast pace. But it's the World Cup, they're all great horses, and I have a lot of respect for Premium Tap and Discreet Cat, we know about them from America."
