In contrast to most stakes races around the world, the Victoria Racing Club has a special trophy for the winning strapper (more commonly referred to as "grooms" in America and "lads" in Europe). Angela Hill received the Tommy Woodcock Trophy, named after the strapper of the great Phar Lap, winner of the 1930 Melbourne Cup. Incidentally, Efficient is the first horse since Phar Lap to win the Victoria Derby and then return to Flemington to win the Melbourne Cup the following year.
