Viewed was a $50,000 purchase by his owner Dato Tan Chin Nam. He is an Australian-bred 5-year-old bay horse by Scenic (Sadler's Wells) out of Lovers Knot (Khozaam). He came into the race off a 10th place finish in the 1 1/2 mile Caulfield Cup on October 18 and then an 11th place finish in the 1 1/4 mile Mackinnon Stakes just 2 days before the Melbourne Cup!
