Trainer Alain de Royer Dupre said, "Before it looks a difficult challenge to come from France and to be competitive in a race like this great race but I was very confident because he is a very good horse. It's a dream to be here with so many people and a very splendid atmosphere."

Australian co-owner Gerry Ryan added, "This is what you dream of ever since you were a kid. We were having a chat last night. We used to both listen to the radio growing up. It's fantastic. Five years ago we planned this."
