First time by with Granique and Gold Strike out front followed by Get Down and Ablo. Jim McAleney aboard Gold Strike said, "We had such an easy trip the first part of the race. I didn't go into the race making my mind up on any specifics of what I was going to do. Things were just given to us. I honestly said to myself at the half-mile pole, 'It's ours. This our Plate.' She was running so strong and so well underneath me." Of course this was not to be as she eventually faded to third.
