Northern California-based Lost in the Fog was named Champion Sprinter. He was undefeated in his career going into the Breeders' Cup Sprint which he lost, but the 3-year-old was the clear choice among the voters. Owner Harry Aleo said, "Secretariat lost a few races; Man o' War lost, too. So, Lost in the Fog's 10 for 11; that's not too bad. With a little bit of racing luck, we'll be right back here next year. We have our eyes on the Breeder's Cup next year."
