There was a second Triple Crown prep race on the card. The Grade 2 $150,000 Swale Stakes is a 7 furlong sprint for 3-year-olds. 14-1 shot Sharp Humor battled on the pace with 9-2 shot Praying for Cash, grabbed the lead in mid stretch and held off the late-running 7-5 favorite Noonmark to prevail by a neck in 1:22.14. Praying for Cash finished sixth. Winning trainer Dale Romans said, "He's just a fast, fast horse. He does everything right. He's got a real high cruising speed. It seems like we have to have a little bigger plan now. There's already been one Distorted New York-bred to win the Derby (Funny Cide). Let's see if we can get there." Winning jockey Mark Guidry added, "We followed the game plan (to be on the pace). It went real well. We had some concern at the 1/8 pole, but my horse fought back real hard."
