2006 Florida Derby Card

The first stakes race of the undercard was the $75,000 Spectacular Bid Stakes for 3-year-old sprinters going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track. Odds-on favorite Exclusive Quality satisfied his many backers, taking over the lead at the midway point of the far turn and then holding off the late attempt of Diabolical in late stretch to win by just 1/2 a length, completing the trip in 1:15.88. 5-2 second choice R Loyal Man finished third. Winning trainer Todd Pletcher said, "He's done everything we've asked him since he came down here this winter. It was great to see him willing to put up a fight, because he had to battle a little bit early on, and still kept going." Exclusive Quality will ship to Belmont for the Withers or the Woody Stephens.
