The $400,000 Frizette Stakes (G1) featured 2-year-old fillies going 1 mile on the main track. The connections of Bernardini were back with 2-1 favorite Allude while trainer Todd Pletcher countered with 5-2 second choice Awesome Ashley. Matron Stakes winner Meadow Breeze was the 6-1 third choice in the field of ten.

9-1 third choice Lilly Carson, 24-1 outsider Our Fantene, and Meadow Breeze battled up front through an initial half in a brisk 45.81, with Allude sitting in the middle of the pack down the backstretch. Lilly Carson stretched out her lead to a length and a half at the top of the stretch after 6 furlongs in 1:12.03, holding the lead to the 1/8 pole. 12-1 shot Sutra, who was back in 8th early on, made a strong late move inside on the turn, and passed the pacesetters to win by 1 3/4 lengths in a time of 1:40.22. 47-1 outsider Enchanting Star made a late move of her own, collaring Lilly Carson late to get second, clear by 1 3/4 length. Awesome Ashley finished another 1 1/4 lengths back in fourth after a wide trip, while favorite Allude faded late and disappointed in sixth.
