Winning jockey Cornelio Velasquez said, "(Jockey Javier) Castellano's horse (Outperformance) ran big. I had a lot of horse at the quarter pole; he was more relaxed today. I think Castellano's horse was better than the last time they ran together, but my horse is very good."

Trainer Barclay Tagg added, "He ran a beautiful race. He settled behind the speed very nicely. I never expected him to be that cool. Outperformance was a horse I was worried about. (Trainer) Rick Violette is as hot as a firecracker and we were giving that horse a lot of weight (124 pounds to 115 pounds). When Outperformance came up alongside of him, he kicked in beautifully. I loved his race.” Tagg said that Showing Up would start next in the Hollywood Derby.
